Cactus Bar
Cactus Bar is an open-air beer bar on Soi Cowboy, one of the few non-go-go bar options on the strip. The venue has no walls, no stage, and no go-go dancers. Instead, it offers a long bar counter with stools, a few high tables, and a direct view of the Soi Cowboy street action. Beer is cheap, the atmosphere is casual, and the workers who staff the bar are friendly without the structured lady drink dynamic of the enclosed venues. Cactus draws visitors who want to sit in the middle of Soi Cowboy's energy without committing to a go-go bar. It's a popular starting point for an evening, a meeting point for groups, and a decompression spot between bar visits. The prices are the lowest on the soi, and there's no pressure to spend beyond your first drink.

Full Review
Cactus Bar exists for a simple reason: sometimes you just want a cheap beer and a view. On a street dominated by enclosed go-go bars with their own internal dynamics, having an open-air option where you can sit, drink, and watch the world go by is valuable.
The setup is minimal. A bar counter, stools, and a few tables. No walls mean you're part of the street scene, which on Soi Cowboy means a constant flow of tourists, touts, workers, and locals. The people-watching alone is worth the price of a 90 THB beer.
Drinks are the cheapest on the soi by a significant margin. A beer at 90 THB is roughly half what you'd pay at Baccara. Lady drinks are available at 130 THB if workers join you, but there's no pressure and the dynamic is casual. No bar fines, no stage shows, no commitment.
Cactus works best as a starting point or intermission. Arrive early, have a beer while the go-go bars are still warming up, and scope out the options. Return between bar visits to reset your budget and compare notes with other visitors. Use it as a meeting point if you're with a group that wants to split up.
The only downside is exposure. On hot nights, the lack of air conditioning is noticeable. On rainy evenings, the open design offers limited protection. But those are minor complaints for a bar that does its simple job well.
