Oskar Bistro is the kind of venue that makes Soi 11 more than just a bar street. Starting the evening here with dinner and ending it with drinks at the bar counter gives you an entire night's entertainment without changing location.
The food is decent. European comfort dishes, nothing groundbreaking but well-executed and reasonably priced for the area. Steaks run around 400 to 500 THB, pasta dishes 250 to 350 THB. The outdoor terrace is the preferred seating, with a view of the Soi 11 foot traffic that becomes increasingly entertaining as the night wears on.
The transition starts around 22:00. The background music gets louder, a DJ takes over from the playlist, and the dining crowd is gradually replaced by nightlife visitors. By midnight, Oskar looks and feels like a different venue. The terrace fills with groups socializing, couples on dates, and freelancers who've made this one of their regular spots.
Drink prices are mid-range for Soi 11. Beer at 180 THB and cocktails at 280 THB are standard. The bar staff are competent without being exceptional. The real draw is the location and the atmosphere rather than the drinks themselves.
Oskar's weakness is that it doesn't excel at either of its dual roles. The food is good but not destination-worthy. The nightlife is fun but not as energetic as the dedicated clubs. What it does well is the combination, and on Soi 11, that combination fills a unique niche.
