D1 Karaoke & Lounge

Mangga Besar, Jakarta

D1 Karaoke & Lounge is a mid-range KTV operation on Jalan Mangga Besar Raya that combines private karaoke rooms with a main lounge area hosting DJ nights and live singers. The venue holds around twenty private rooms plus a central lounge with stage, dance floor, and booth seating. Weekend programming runs DJ sets on Fridays and live Indonesian singer events on Saturdays. Companions are available as part of the KTV format at additional cost, standard for the Mangga Besar strip. The clientele mixes Chinese-Indonesian regulars, Asian business travelers, and younger local groups using the private rooms for birthdays and work gatherings. Drink prices sit mid-range for the strip.

Insider Tip

Ask for a weekday room package; a three-hour block with drinks included often works out well below the individual-hour rate. The main lounge on Saturday night features local singers who run through popular Indo-pop; it's a different vibe from the karaoke rooms and worth sampling. Confirm all charges including companion fees and service charge before the bill arrives.

Full Review

D1 Karaoke & Lounge is one of the venues that defines the mid-tier of Mangga Besar: polished enough that you're not uncomfortable sitting down, not polished enough to feel like an SCBD operation. The reception is large and competently staffed, with separate desks for karaoke bookings and lounge entry. The main lounge occupies a large central room with a small stage, booth seating around three walls, and a dance floor in front of the stage.

I caught a Friday DJ night and the lounge was two-thirds full by 23:00, mostly Chinese-Indonesian groups in their thirties and forties at booths, a few tables of Korean business visitors, and some younger local groups scattered around. The DJ ran a commercial house set with some remixed Indo-pop that got the floor moving. Drink service to booths was prompt; the cocktails came out closer to sweet-mixers than proper bar drinks, which is typical for KTV lounges.

The karaoke rooms are more interesting. Mid-size rooms hold eight to twelve people comfortably, and the sound equipment is a step above the older Mangga Besar venues. Song catalog is current and covers the expected ground: Mandopop, Indonesian pop from the 80s onward, J-pop, K-pop, and a workable English catalog. Room rates vary by size and day; weekday rates are substantially lower and often include drink packages worth negotiating for.

The companion option operates on the usual Mangga Besar model: available on request, priced separately, and not pushed. Guests who book rooms for private groups without companions are not treated differently by staff. Guests who want the companion format can ask at reception.

Compared to Masterpiece KTV a few doors down, D1 is slightly rougher on the edges but has a more active main lounge. If you want pure karaoke, Masterpiece is the cleaner room. If you want a split evening between private karaoke and a dance floor, D1 does both under one roof.

The Neighborhood

D1 Karaoke & Lounge is on Jalan Mangga Besar Raya in the North Jakarta entertainment strip. The surrounding area is dense with KTV venues, late-night eateries, hotels catering to business travelers, and the broader Chinese-Indonesian commercial district of Glodok nearby.

Getting There

Commuter rail to Mangga Besar station, then a ten-minute walk down Mangga Besar Raya. GoCar or Grab from central Jakarta runs 40000-70000 IDR; drivers know the street by name. Parking is available at the venue for self-drive guests. Nearest TransJakarta stop is Sawah Besar on Corridor 1.
